The first train has successfully crossed the newly constructed Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Railway Bridge over the Jamuna River as part of its trial run. This event marks a significant milestone for the project, which is the largest dedicated railway bridge in Bangladesh. The 4.8 km dual-gauge, double-track bridge is designed to allow faster and safer rail connectivity, reducing the crossing time over the river from 30 minutes on the old bridge to just 5 minutes at speeds of up to 100–120 km/h.
